Pokemon GO in the Poconos and on the Lehigh River
They are everywhere! Look in the forest, in the air and in the water to find all kinds of Pokemon. Whitewater Challengers has it all – the perfect home for Pokemon in the Poconos.
Whitewater Rafting for Pokemon
We’ve all heard stories of Pokemon trainers kayaking into the ocean to take control of PokeGyms or stumbling across dead bodies on the hunt…creepy. Here in the Pocono Mountains you can catch our Lehigh River Pokemon on a safely guided whitewater tour.
Our Family Style Rafting Trip offered daily is the perfect place to catch some new water Pokemon. Mild class I & II rapids make the trip exciting, but calm areas and your lunch stop are the perfect place to take some time to hunt down a new Pokemon. We don’t suggest taking your phone with you on an action packed Premier Whitewater Rafting Trip through the Lehigh Gorge State Park. There is limited cell service in the Lehigh Gorge and Pokemon have only been found at the beginning and end of the trip. But if you want an exciting whitewater adventure plus a chance to catch some Pokemon book a two day adventure like our Weekender Rafting Package or our Pedals and Paddles Package.
Take your phone at your own risk! As the game warns, be aware of your surroundings. You still need to watch out for rocks and paddle to navigate down the river. A waterproof phone case you can hang around your neck is the best tool for catching Pokemon on the Lehigh River.
Pokemon Trainers take to the Bike Trail
White Haven, PA is a quiet rural town with Pokemon around every corner. Hit the Lehigh Gorge Trail starting in White Haven and you will find a PokeGym at the trail head. Just over a mile down the trail at the Lehigh Tannery Historic Site there are two PokeStops. Take a rest, stock up on PokeBalls, maybe set a lure or two and hang out on the trail. Take advantage of our trail bike rental and shuttle available daily.
Pokemon Hunting Trail Etiquette:
- Don’t slam on your brakes to catch that Pidgeotto or Eevee! There might be a rider right behind you.
- To catch a Pokemon, please pull your bike off the trail.
- Don’t Pokemon and drive! – bring a handlebar mount for your phone if you want to monitor your surroundings while riding.
- When passing another rider, pass on the left and communicate with other riders that you are “On Your Left!”
- Operate at a safe speed, you want to be sure you don’t miss a chance to catch a Pokemon.
- Don’t ride two people wide when passing or being passed from either direction. Let those other Pokemon Trainers have a fair shot!
PokeStop & PokeGym at Whitewater Challengers
When you are done hunting Pokemon in the Poconos for the day, our shuttles bring you back from the bike trail or Lehigh River to our rafting center and campground.
Conveniently, there is a PokeStop at the gazebo near the entrance to our campground. As we greet you for your rafting trip you can be stocking up at this PokeStop. Pokemon have been found all over our campground and rafting center including near our paintball target range and life jacket building. Not only is there a PokeStop and hoards of Pokemon, but we have located a PokeGym at the entrance to our campground just off of North Stagecoach Road in Weatherly, PA. Right now the PokeGym is under control of a Whitewater Challengers’ river guide, however our Kitchen Staff is looking to take back control soon.
