The Moose is a whitewater river of many moods and constant surprises. Situated near Old Forge, New York, rafting trips here range from easy (Middle Moose River) to extremely challenging (Lower Moose River). The Middle Moose River is ideal for families and youth groups, from May through September. The Lower Moose River is an extremely challenging section of Class V whitewater, suitable only for experienced river rats who are eager to test the limits of their whitewater rafting skill and endurance. Rafting trips on the Lower Moose River are usually limited to the month of April.

This is an extraordinary EXPERIENCED-ONLY trip. The Lower Moose River demands of every participant the very highest levels of skill, strength, stamina, river savvy and teamwork. This is big, powerful, awe-inspiring whitewater, and needs to be taken seriously. Don't consider this trip unless you are a veteran of at least one other Class IV or V river trip, and you are well prepared for the possibility of an unforeseen swim in very rough water, cold conditions, or both. |
