Fort William Henry Museum

Fort William Henry, named in honor of the Duke of Cumberland, son of King George III, was erected in 1755 by Major General William Johnson.  General Johnson ordered the Fort built to block an anticipated French advance from Canada into the Colonies.  He renamed Lac du St. Sacrament - Lake George, in honor of his Majesty, King George.  Although the original Fort was burned by the French in 1757, the British Army engineers who designed the Fort in 1755 left with their plans intact.  Borrowing these from the British Government in 1952, contractors were able to build a reconstruction that is exact in every detail.  Book and gift shop available. The Hyde Collection Art Museum

Natural Stone Bridge & Caves

Upper Hudson River Railroad

Come and experience all the natural beauty of the majestic Adirondack Mountains along the scenic Hudson River.  You will depart from the restored rail station where Teddy Roosevelt learned of President McKinley's death and his own succession to the Presidency.  Enjoy great views of the river as you travel to the turn-around point at Riparius.  During a 20-minute stop, you can visit the gift shop, view the historic photos of the area or get an ice cream cone in the tour refreshment caboose.
