General admission is free to the public. Visit the Lehigh RiverFest to check out vendors and enjoy the entertainment. Purchase a wristband for the ‘Camping Package’ (2 nights camping, breakfast on Saturday, plus a complimentary shuttle to and from the river). The cost is $20 if you preregister or $30 if you register onsite the weekend of the festival. Other activities available include guided whitewater rafting, bike rental/shuttle and paintball target range. Prices vary.
When can I arrive on Friday?
Any time! If there is not an attendant near the entrance, so just make your way to the campground store. Our staff will direct you to the camping area and/or to purchase your Paddler Package wristband.
Where does the Paddler Package shuttle take me?
This shuttle will take you to the White Haven put-in and later pick you up at Rockport. If you choose to take advantage of the driver/vehicle drop at Glen Onoko on Saturday morning (driver caravan to Glen Onoko leaves Whitewater Challengers at 7am), you can run the very long 25-mile stretch from White Haven to Glen Onoko. Return shuttles from Glen Onoko will not be provided by the Lehigh RiverFest. Please take into consideration your level of fitness and the water levels when planning your day on the river.
What is the size of the planned water release on the weekend of the festival?
We understand water levels are important information for a river festival. We promise to post more information here when it is announced by the Corps of Engineers. Find water levels here, as well as on the USACE web site:
Update: [The Francis E Walter Dam] revised the schedule for the final water release due to public comments received. [The Francis E Walter Dam will] be starting the release at 1:00 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 7 and stepping down 25 percent every 12 hours.
I don’t own my own boat. Can I rent one?
We do not offer rentals of kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, or other equipment. If you want to get on the river you can make a reservation for a guided whitewater rafting trip ($59.95/person plus taxes and insurance).
What facilities are available at Whitewater Challengers?
Whitewater Challengers is a campground and rafting center. Bathrooms, showers, food service, paintball target range, bike rental/shuttle, sand volleyball and outdoor basketball are available onsite.
Is there a minimum age for the ‘Paddler Package’?
There is no minimum age. But any minor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to participate in the river festival shuttle.
Can I camp overnight even if I don’t want to participate in activities?
Yes! The camping fee is $7.50/person/night. Even if you don’t plan to use the shuttle, you can preregister for the Paddler Package. For $20 you receive two nights of camping and the breakfast buffet on Saturday morning (valued at $22.95).
Can I use the shuttle if I don’t camp overnight?
Yes. Just purchase a ‘Paddler Package’ wristband in the morning prior to the shuttle. We recommend showing up by 8am to take advantage of the breakfast buffet before getting on the river. Please note that the last put-in shuttle leaves Whitewater Challengers at 12:00pm.
Is there a quiet area away from the festival for camping?
Whitewater Challengers has a 25 acre campground. So there’s plenty of room to spread out and find a quiet corner. We are not strictly enforcing our normal quiet hours starting at 11pm. However we will turn down the volume of our own entertainment at that time.
Are dogs allowed at the festival?
Yes, non-aggressive dogs are welcome at the festival if on a leash (6-foot leash maximum). Do not leave dogs unattended in campsites. Please be responsible and clean up after your own pet.
Is alcohol permitted at the festival?
Alcohol will be sold at the Lehigh RiverFest, all sales benefit Team River Runner. Alcohol is permitted in moderation. Intoxication is not permitted on the festival grounds, and anyone who has overindulged will be required to leave. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and be respectful of other guests.
